Laurence Fishburne is , by all account , a welcome plus to the Marvel Cinematic Universe . He ’s a bang-up actor , and my only complaint with his appearance inAnt - Man and The Waspis that there was n’t more of it .
According to Peyton Reed , who talked recently about Fishburne ’s fibre on theEmpire Film Podcast , we could ’ve gotten at least one more scene — and a good one , too .
In the film , Fishburne plays Bill Foster , an old Ant - Man character also known as Goliath , who has size - vary powers And in a scene that could have made it into the film , he would ’ve used them .

“ At one point we were move to have one brief flashback with vernal Hank Pym and youthful Bill Foster where he reaches his 21 feet in endeavor to grow , ” Reed say , as transcribed byComic Book Resources . “ And it just felt , narratively , it just was too much of a left turn . As much as we felt like it might get a big cheer from a small percentage of Marvel Comics fans , it just was too far a scope . But who knows for the future . ”
Fishburne has expressed his exuberance for being in the MCU in general in the past , and I ’m sure he would ’ve loved the fortune to get a picayune super . Fans , too , would ’ve adored it , but the scene , which connects to a conversation Foster and Scott Lang have in the picture show , did n’t seem to fit with the flow of the story Reed wanted to state .
Hopefully , Fishburne will return in the next Ant - Man film , and when he does , he ’ll get his opportunity . peradventure he could be in theHank Pym prequelwe affectionately want to happen .
