In the year after World War II , Berlin view a number of fresh skyscrapers erected to provide the burgeoning halfway class with affordable housing . Even though many were designed by famous architect they were eventually viewed as concrete demon and moulder in neglect , until recently .
In a recent series , 36 - twelvemonth - old photographer Malte Brandenburg sought to document these outre complexes as they start a fresh life history as home basis for the city ’s artist . Originally bear in West Berlin , Brandenburg heavily researched the surrounding structures to tear these funnily colourful buildings at a low angle . as well , he shot on cloudless 24-hour interval to sequestrate the skyscraper from the rest period of the metropolis .
“ I … spend a lot of metre on Google Earth to find buildings where I can have a clear-cut shot from a long length or which are locate nigh to parking deck , ” Brandenburg tell Gizmodo . “ I wanted to instance these buildings in a simple way as what they are , so that the spectator can probe them next to each other . ”

While their repute as imposing seems earned , many of the colors on the facade of these towers are unusually inviting , especially in dividing line to well know metropolis which are a sea of grey , grey , and more grizzly . “ In some instances the colors have been added subsequently on , but most of them have been ramp up like this … they expect a bit courteous at least and it somehow indicate as well that masses take care of them , live with them , ” says Brandenburg .
