Beyonce Officially Announces New Album Title Act II: Cowboy Carter

Beyoncémay be gearing up to release her firstcountrymusic album, but this is not the pop superstar’s first rodeo.

In addition to the previously released singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” it seems as though the other songs may be called: “American Requiem,” “Blackbird,” “Protector,” “My Rose” “Smoke Hour,” “Texas Hold ‘Em,” “Bodyguard,” “Dolly P,” “Jolene,” “Daughter,” “Spaghetti,” “Alligator Tears,” “Smoke Hour II,” “Just For Fun,” “II Most Wanted,” “Levii’s Jeans,” “Flamenco,” “The Linda Martell Show,” “Yaya,” “Oh Louisiana,” “Desert Eagle,” “Riiverdale,” “II Hands II Heaven,” “Tyrant” “Sweet Honey Buckin’” and “Amen.”

There’s various nods to the record being “act II” of her projectRenaissancethroughout the spelling of the song titles, and “The Linda Martell Show” seems to be a reference to the country singer-songwriter who became the first Black female artist to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.

Beyoncé’s post did not reveal which songs are set to feature guests, but last week the “Break My Soul” artist did confirm with apost on Instagramthat fans can expect the record to include “a few surprises” and collaborations with “artists who I deeply respect.”

In musician’s candid post on Instagram last week, which featured the first-look at theAct II: Cowboy Cartercover artwork, Beyoncé also thanked the Bey Hive for their support of her recent singles andopened up about what inspired her new album. The “Cuff It” singer explained that not only was the LP five years in the making, but said that it was “born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed.”

“And it was very clear that I wasn’t,” the pop icon shared. “But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of country music and studied our rich musical archive. It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history.”

TheLemonadeartist wrote, “The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me. act ii is a result of challenging myself, and taking my time to bend and blend genres together to create this body of work.”

The singer-songwriter’s foray into country has already been a success, as she became the first Black female artist in history toreach No. 1 on the Hot Country Songschart. Once “Texas Hold ‘Em” wasserviced to country radio, she reached the peak position on the chart.
