It seems likeBlack Adamwas almost too muscular . allot toCollider , the newestDC superherofilm usher the antihero killing so many people that the MPAA refused to give it aPG-13rating until after four rounds of cuts had been made .
While anR ratingis sure as shooting not unheard of for superhero picture ( think the ‘ 90s , when both Blade and Spawn got R - rating ? ) most massive - runaway budget films tend to aim for PG-13 in edict to attract the widest audience possible . Regardless , producers Beau Flynn and Hiram Garcia spoke with Collider about the demand to push Black Adam as far as the MPAA would be unforced to go , and thus submitted the film four times before achieving the PG-13 rating : “ We really wanted to ensure that we honor the character of Black Adam . One of the things he ’s known for is his aggression and violence , and to do a Black Adam picture show that did n’t have that just would n’t have been bona fide . ”
Both Flynn and Garcia said that they worked firmly to not cut whole picture . They had to sacrifice some “ personal moments ” but they kept in a fairly grim gash where Black Adam drops a gentleman’s gentleman and then has a auto leap off him . Apparently , that ’s what really matters in a superhero film .
