This is the hedgehog rover . It run just as well upside - down as right - side up , is outfitted with spinning spikes on all face , and can free itself from traps by using a “ tornado twist ” . There ’s only one direction to stop it : For the love of God , send it out to an asteroid quickly , NASA !
At present , the hedgehog rover continue here with us on Earth ( look , plotting ) , at NASA ’s JPL laboratory where it’scurrently undergoing examination . The architectural plan , however , is to send out into the galaxy to explore comets and asteroids , where the traditional wheel bird of passage would either get stuck or flip - over .
Here it is in natural action ( arrant with its rather telling / terrifying “ tornado twisting ” manoeuvre . )
