Matt Murdock and his friends ( and enemies ) are correct to return withDaredevil : Born Againin March . The path to getting this show has been middling pregnant , in part owing to acreative overhaulin 2023 that stem from Marvel’sgeneral issueswith the boob tube format .
In a recent audience withSFX Magazine , showrunner Dario Scardapane tattle about the pivot away from that original version from Chris Ord and Matt Corman . According to Scardapane , Ord and Corman ’s variant , which only had less than one-half of its planned 18 episodes take before being scrapped , “ had really strong breaker point . But it was n’t palpate in line with whatDaredevilhad been established to be . ” In that initial version , Born Againwas a soft MCU - connected reboot of the Netflix serial publication that also keep some ( but not all ) element of that initial show . Once Scardapane was bring on , it was decided the Netflix series ( and by extension , the largerDefendersuniverse ) werefully partof the MCU , andBorn Againcould to the full foot up where the show left off .
speak on the “ U - turn , ” actor Charlie Cox acknowledged the firstBorn Againiteration just “ was n’t quite on the job , ” even as he call it evenly “ interesting and valid ” in its own right field . Ord and Corman wanted to avoid just “ doing exactly the same thing , ” and when Scardapane connect , a new fender was shot to be more in the nervure of the Netflix serial . That did the trick , as made clear by how muchBorn Again’strailer is work to make you retrieve of the good parts ofDaredevil . There are some changes in front , though : Scardapane alsotold SFXabout his desire to have “ a plenty less navel - gazing ” than the original series and have more fun in the minute between grapheme .

In Scardapane ’s eyes , this show is more of a “ New York offence story ” compared to the original noir feel of the Netflix show . For him , the least appealing scenes occur “ when it was two persona in a room peach about what a hero is . ” He was immediate to clear up he was n’t cast any shade , he just does n’t require characters “ grousing about their lot in life , I wanted to see them doing things . I palpate that had been done . ” As such , there ’ll be longer scenes inbred Again , particularly during the fights . When he ran thePunisherseries , characters would “ hash things out ” for five pages so there ’d be blank space for action setting . With characters like Matt , Punisher , and newcomers like White Tiger and Muse to play with , Scardapane teased the show will be “ big action scenery at a spate more pace ” than before .
