The Federal Communication Commission ( FCC ) name Lingo Telecom , a Texas - based wireless provider , as the party that transmitteddeepfake robocalls impersonating President Biden . Walter Monk and the entity “ Life Corp ” were name as the culprits who created the deepfake calls .   The FCC sent the Lingo a cease and desist letter , according to apress releasesent to Gizmodo Tuesday , threatening to for good block the company ’s operations .

“ Lingo Telecom , LLC is evidently originating illegal robocall dealings , ” said the FCC in itscease and desist letter . “Failure to comply with the steps outlined in this letter may result in downstream providers for good blocking all of Lingo ’s dealings . ”

The FCC operate with the New Hampshire Attorney General ’s Office to identify Lingo as the company thatfacilitated deepfake robocalls ahead of a presidential primarylast calendar month .
