The tablets within those Link NYC Internet stall are losing internet access because too many homeless masses are using them . The city had received complaints that large crowds of homeless people were meet around the kiosks .

The New York Timesreports :

rather , they ’ve attracted gravid groups who linger for minute , sometimes drinking and doing drugs and , sometimes , boldly watch porn on the sidewalks . Now , yielding to complaint , the operator of the kiosks , LinkNYC web , are shut off their internet browsers .
Users were expected to make unforesightful stops at the cubicle . But they quickly pull the homeless and other idle people who took full advantage of the unlimited entree to the internet to watch pic and play euphony for hours .
The kiosks will still provide high upper internet entree , just not on the tablet that is built in to the stall . The tablet will also still provide access code to 911 and Google Maps services .

“ We ’ve heard a great quite a little of worry from all turning point of the urban center about the misuse of these kiosks for salacious and nefarious purposes,”saidBronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. , “ and today ’s announcement that World Wide Web browsing services will be disabled on LinkNYC kiosk is a measure in the right focus . ”
