The news came via former NBA player Stephen Jackson during his recent appearance onThe Rematchpodcast. Jacksonwas friends with Floydduring his time in Houston, Texas, where they both grew up.

“I had a lot of my friends — Kyrie Irving bought them a house,” Jackson said on the podcast. “Lil Wayne’s manager bought them a Mercedes-Benz. Barbra Streisand gave them stock in Disney.”

Ashley Blackwood, a rep for Irving, confirmed the purchase in a statement sent to PEOPLE.

During his appearance onThe Rematch,Jackson said Floyd’s young daughter, Gianna, has received support from many people since the death of her father.

“She’s getting so much love, from not just us, but from people all around the world who are showing support,” Jackson said.

“I’m just continuing to do what I said I was going to do,” he added. “I said I was going to be my brother’s keeper and take care of his daughter and make sure that her next days are her best days.”

Floyd’s death in May quickly sparked outrage and led to protests across the country. The tragedy also led to the firing of a group of Minneapolis police officers when a video of the incident went viral on social media.

In the footage, Floyd is seen lying on his stomach next to a Minneapolis patrol car as one of the officers, Derek Chauvin, kneels on his neck.

Chauvin was charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter and will stand trial in March,NBC Newsreported. He faces up to 40 years behind bars.
