As Buddy’s adoptive dad,Bob Newhartbroke the news that his son is actually a human, not an elf, born to Walter Hobbs and the late Susan Wells. Papa Elf supports Buddy’s quest to meet his biological father in New York City, but appreciates it even more when Buddy and Jovie eventually return to the North Pole with a little elf of their own.
In 2006, Newhart released a memoir titledI Shouldn’t Even Be Doing This,chronicling his life as a comedian and incorporating material from his original routines.
Newhartmarried wife Ginniein 1963, and the two shared four children — Robert, Timothy, Jennifer and Courtney — and 10 grandchildren.Ginnie died in April 2023.

A prolific screen actor as well, he starred on HBO’sGame of Thronesfrom 2011 to 2019 as Tyrion Lannister, a role that won him the Primetime Emmy Award foroutstanding supporting actorin a drama series four times.
Dinklage and Schmidt, a playwright, have been married since 2005 and share two children.

Asner died in 2021at age 91 from natural causes.
