The FDA does all superintendence ( no wordplay designate ) of organ disposal .
The main organs — heart , liver , pancreas , lung , etc.—are transplanted within hours . They are just not executable if they are not being perfused always .
The other tissues — like bone , skin , sinew , etc.—do not postulate to be transplanted immediately . But I am not certain on the regulations of when they need to be transplanted .
With the center , there are four tissues that can be recovered .
We convalesce whole eye for research and training design . These usually go much quicker , but we can hold them up to a year .
Conjunctivacan also be regain ; conjunctiva is a clear covering over most of the center ( it is what gets riled when you have pink eye ) . I have been working as a retrieval technical school for five years , and our office has not had a request for " conj " in all that time . I believe it is mostly used for research , but I could be wrong .
Sclera is the white area of your eye . It is fairly deep and compromising . If you have ever touched a reptilian nut , that is what it reminds me of . We recover sclerotic coat for graft . They expend it for several things , but mainly to patch punctures . Similar to if you bulge the internal tube of your bike and revivify it . Sclera can also be used to repair spike brake drum . We can withstand on to this for up to a class .
The main thing we recover is corneas . In the U.S. , we must transplant these within seven days of recovery . ( Recovery is usually within hours of death , but we can agitate it up to 20 hours after if postulate . ) Sometimes we have more cornea than we need , and then they are ship overseas and graft up to 14 days after retrieval . There is no real dissimilar outcome with the posterior transplant prison term , but the FDA in the U.S. made the regulation . ( you may signalise up to be an organ , tissue paper , and optic donorhere . )
